Accord Super Specialty Hospital’s Cardiology Services

Accord Super Speciality Hospital is one of the leading hospitals in India, and it is one of the first in the world to implement augmented artificial intelligence (AI) to provide the highest quality standards of patient care. Some of the common conditions treated by our department are as follows.

  • Coronary artery disease: The narrowing of arteries causing reduced blood flow to muscles
  • Surgeries for valve repair
  • Marfan syndrome and other less common conditions
  • Peripheral vascular disease: Reduced blood supply to limbs

To get the best-in-class treatment for your cardiac concerns, book an appointment with us.

Preventive Health Check-Ups:

The heart check-ups at Accord Super Speciality Hospital are designed to provide a detailed evaluation of the cardiovascular system as well as overall heart health. The tests are recommended for people who have heart disease or a family history of heart diseases and people who have risk factors for heart disease such as suffering from diabetes mellitus, obesity, stress, depression, and those who consume alcohol and tobacco.

It includes the following tests:
  • Haemogram
  • Blood sugar test
  • Renal profile test
  • Lipid profile test
  • Liver profile test
General tests:
  • ECHO
  • Pulmonary Function Test (Spirometry)
  • ECG resting
  • X-ray chest (PA view)
  • Ultra-sonogram of the abdomen
  • TMT

Non-invasive Cardiology

The department of non-invasive cardiology at Accord Super Speciality Hospital identifies and treats heart problems without using needles, fluids, or instruments. The hospital offers state-of-the-art diagnostic testing for heart and vascular conditions. The tests at the department are supervised by cardiovascular experts and performed by highly skilled sonographers and technicians.

It utilizes techniques such as:

Echocardiography- It checks for the heart and surrounding structures and it checks how well the heart pumps blood, detects infection and checks for structural abnormalities of the heart.

Stress tests- This includes a few exercises that help to check the performance of the heart under physical stress.

Vascular Dopplers

CT scans- It examines heart disease and atherosclerosis.

Once the risk factors or existing heart conditions are identified, our experts recommend medication and lifestyle changes to manage and improve heart health.

Interventional cardiology is the globally preferred mode of cardiac care. It is a subspeciality of cardiology that predominantly deals with non-surgical, minimally invasive interventional procedures to diagnose, prevent, and treat various cardiovascular diseases. The procedures performed in interventional cardiology often employ a catheter, a hollow, flexible, tube-like medical device inserted into the blood vessel to the aorta and heart. This minimal invasive catheter-assisted interventional cardiology procedure offers several benefits over surgical intervention, such as reduced pain, decreased risk of infection, and early recovery time.

Some of the common interventional diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed in the Accord super speciality hospital include,

Cardiac angiography
  • Cardiac angiography is a catheter-based minimally invasive procedure used to access coronary circulation and detect blockage in coronary arteries. This procedure injects a special contrast dye into the arteries via a catheter to identify the blockage in the blood flow.
  • This test is often called cardiac catheterization or coronary angiogram.
Angioplasty of heart arteries
  • After balloon angioplasty, a small metal mesh scaffold called a stent may be placed in the artery. This stent expands the size of the narrowed artery, allowing crucial blow flow to coronary arteries to prevent heart failure.
  • These stents are usually coated with drug-eluting medication to prevent blockage within the stents.
Valvuloplasty
  • Valvuloplasty, also known as balloon valvuloplasty, is a widely used non-surgical procedure to treat valve stenosis.
  • Valvuloplasty is considered an alternative option to improve the quality of life in patients who otherwise are not a candidate for surgery.
  • Balloon dilation of the aortic valve or mitral valve is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat valve stenosis (or the narrowing of the valve). For suitable cases, this procedure can be considered as an alternative to open surgical valvotomy.
  • Congenital heart disease and other associated dysfunction of pulmonary arteries can be effectively treated using the balloon dilatation procedure.
Peripheral Angiography & Angioplasty
  • Peripheral angiography is a minimally invasive diagnostic modality that helps to assess the arteries in the limbs and look out for any sort of blockage or abnormality. It is a catheter-based modality that uses an x-ray technique for detailed vision. The catheter is introduced inside the patient's body via the groin.
  • Angioplasty is a procedure that aims at treating arterial blockages during angioplasty. This is done with the help of a balloon catheter which is introduced inside the blocked artery. Once in place, the balloon is inflated to open the narrowed walls and once the blockage is cleared, the catheter is removed carefully.
Carotid Interventions
  • Carotid arteries are a pair of arteries that carry blood to the brain and head. Deposition of fat and calcium in the arteries over time can cause the narrowing of arteries and often results in a condition called carotid artery stenosis. Such kinds of stenosis can be effectively treated with a minimally invasive angioplasty procedure.
  • The angioplasty procedure uses a specialized flexible device called a catheter. The catheter, equipped with a tiny balloon at its tip, is inserted into the blocked artery. Then, the balloon gets inflated against the walls of the arteries. It opens the narrowed artery and improves the blood flow.
  • The interventionist then removes the balloon.
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) is a catheter-based procedure used to replace the diseased aortic valves through blood vessels in contrast with open-heart surgery.
  • TAVR may be considered an option for patients who are at high risk of complications from open-heart surgery.
Electrophysiology (EP) study + RFA
  • Electrophysiology (EP) test is a catheter-assisted minimally invasive procedure used to examine the heart’s electrical activity. This test helps cardiologists to determine arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythm).
  • EP studies + RFA helps to treat various arrhythmia like SVT / AF / VT
Cardiac Pacemaker and Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD)
  • An artificial cardiac pacemaker is an implantable medical device that generates small electrical impulses to the heart muscles to regulate the conduction system of the heart. The pacemaker procedure is relatively safe and often requires minor incision surgery.
  • An implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) is a specialized implantable electrical device that looks similar to a pacemaker. It is used to treat abnormal heartbeats. However, the key difference between the two is an ICD can also shock the heart if it detects a dangerous heart rhythm.
Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR)
  • Endovascular aneurysm repair is a non-surgical minimally invasive procedure used to treat vascular aneurysms. A vascular aneurysm is a medical condition that refers to the enlargement of the artery.
  • EVAR uses special endovascular instruments to insert a stent graft to fix the weakened or enlarged artery.
