How are Psychiatric sessions conducted?

An initial assessment is carried out by the Accord Psychiatrist during the first appointment. This gives them an insight into the patient’s physical and mental health. In order to do so, following questions may be asked:

  • The basic problem that caused the patient to seek an appointment with the Psychiatrist
  • Questions about the life and thoughts of the patient in general
  • A simple physical examination may also be carried out including blood pressure, sugar and others so as to ensure prescription of the right medications
  • Previous medical history as given by your general physician

On a complete assessment, the doctor shall then recommend treatments or prescribe the required medications for managing the condition. The length of each appointment as well as number of times you may have to go to see the doctor may also differ from patient to patient depending on his or her circumstances. The Accord Psychiatrists give medical and mental health advice to the patients in a vast number of mental health areas including disorders and problems, treatments as well as advice for the wellbeing of young people and the parents too.
